St. Vincent's Catholic Medical Center in Greenwich Village in New York on Wednesday April 7, 2010. The 160 year old hospital, which is $700 million in debt announced that it was shutting down its in-patient services, ending acute care, rehabilitation, and behavioral health care services. Out-patient care like cancer treatment and HIV/AIDS centers will continue to operate but it is doubtful that the emergency department will continue as a Level One Trauma Center. (© Richard B.
