BURPEE'S CABBAGE SEED 49 EARLY JERSEY WAKEFIELD CABBAGE, With the continued improvements made by selection, during more than twenty years, the JERSEY WAKEFIELD is decidedly the BEST first early Cabbage. It is grown more extensively for market than any other early Cabbage, and is so universally popular with market gardeners that we have devoted particular attention to growing the choicest and most " thoroughbred" strain. Those familiar only with the old Wakefield, of irregular types, will appre- ciate the " triteness" of our seed when we state that the ac- companying illustration was accurately engraved from a photograph taken of a portion of the field growing for seed. It heads up remarkably hard and solid; the heads are pyramidal in shape, gen- erally pointed at the end, and, hav- "\i|3H£S^v*f ing few outside leaves, the plants can be set close together. The heads are of excellent quality, and of large size for so early a Cab- bage. The outer leaves are unusu- ally thick and heavy (much more so than in any other early Cabbage), and it is thereby enabled to stand more cold weather without injury when carried through the winter either in the open ground in the South or in cold frames in the Ntrth. Per pkt. 10 cts.; oz. 25 cts.; 34 ^ 75 cts.; per ft) $, postpaid. BURPEE'S ALLHEAD EARLY CABBAGS. This is, tvithout question, the best second=early Cabbage. We regret that it is now sold under a number of names by other houses, such as Faultless Early, Solid South, Eclipse, etc. If planters everywhere only knew the excellence of the ALLHEAD Early Cabbage, even our large supply of seed would not suffice to meet the demand. It is undoubtedly altogether unequaled as an early summer Cabbage, and is fully as good for winter use, being really an all-the-yea
