A portrait of James Taylor

James Taylor, Born 12 March 1948. Started learning the cello but switched to guitar in 1960. His career started with Apple Records and Peter Asher at the time when Apple were talent seeking. Despite Being accompanied By Paul McCartney and George Harrison on one track the album simply named 'James Taylor' did not sell well. On his second record 'Sweet Baby James', still keeping Asher as his manager and record producer was a massive success for Warner Bros, buoyed by the single 'Fire And Rain'. His next hit was a recording of Carole King's 'You've Got A Friend' . In 1972 he made One Man Dog and married singer songwriter Carly Simon in November with whom he had two children. Then came his Greatest Hits album which was a great success. Taylor has continued touring ever since.
