Shoirtly after his retirement in1885, he was appointed reoeiver, by the United States Court, for TheClevelamd & Miarletta Railroaid, and after its sale and reorganization, be-came president and general manager of the road, and ciomtinued as suchuntil 1893, when it becamie a part of the Pennsylvania system. In April, 1896, he was appointed by Governor Bushnell as a mem-ber of the Ohio Canal Commission, and reappointed by Governor Nash in1900, retaining the position up to the time of his death.
