On Monday, July 31 WSDOT maintenance crews noticed that something didn't look quite right on SR 534 just west of SR 9. It's a road they patrol regularly so they investigated and found a sinkhole was forming due to a leaking culvert under the highway. Crews closed the road, assessed the situation, determined a temporary repair could be put in place, made those repairs and reopened the highway - which currently has a bump at this location.
