Seaham began life as a coal exporting port in north east England. With With the decline of the coal industry things looked bleak for this Durham coastal town whose economy was based upon the harbour and coal exports. However it has successfully reinvented itself as a resort with a string of bars and coffee shops along the seafront, and a marina based in the old docks.
