The great bulk of the demand in Montreal has been for lowgrade and medium Japan and black teas, but this does not meanthat high-grade Japans, China or Ceylon teas have been the contrary ; they have received more than usual and low grades, however, are actually scarce, whichmakes their strength more conspicuous. In one case this week a good-sized lot of low-grade Japan wasturned over at u^c. per pound. This same lot was offered theweek before at ioc, but buyers were too fastidi
