Courtright settled onSection 16, and was among the first to enlistunder the call tor 75,000 men at the beginningof the Civil War. He was also quite active inobtaining volunteers. During the war he wasa member of tne Seventy-eighth Illinois Regi-ment, and at the close of the rebellion he re-turned home.
