A landsknecht officer's sword South German, possibly Munich, circa 1525-1550. Single-edged blade with triple fullers on both sides with long, double-edged point and Pi mark struck on the reverse. Straight iron cross-guard, the button-shaped terminals set off by balusters and spirally cut. Riveted guard plate pierced with central cross and heart design, coiled at the sides. The front edge finely roped. Wooden, fish skin-covered grip with ivory pommel carved in relief (shrinkage crack).
