Roman mosaic. Fourth century mosaic depicting an aristocrat (Lord Julius, lower right) and his villa (centre) in Carthage, near the modern day city of Tunis. Around the villa, various scenes show the every-day life of the estate, including hunting and farming. Mosaics are constructed from small coloured cubes of stone and were common in ancient Roman homes of affluent citizens. It is housed in the Bardo Museum, Tunis, Tunisia.
