Frog beetle (Sagra sp.). All insects have six legs (three pairs), antennae and a segmented body (head, thorax and abdomen). Beetles, however have a hard carapace over their abdomen that supports and protects their bodies. Frog beetles have different colour forms, depending in which part of the world they are found. The larvae are found in the soil, where they feed on the roots of plants and other organic matter. This can lead to serious damage and therefore, these beetles are agricultural pests. The study of insects is called entomology.
