The Admiralty has direct telegraphic communication With Portsmouth, and the other Royal Naval Stations. The screen of columns in front was designed by Robert Adam, but had only the central arched opening, the two side openings having been subsequently pierced through the stone wail at the back, and one column removed, which has rather spoilt the effect of this fine composition. "
