NuSTAR space telescope construction. Engineers in the final stages of mating NASA's Nuclear Spectroscopic Telescope Array (NuSTAR) to its carrier rock
NuSTAR space telescope construction. Engineers in the final stages of mating NASA's Nuclear Spectroscopic Telescope Array (NuSTAR) to its carrier rocket. NuSTAR is NASA's 11th small-explorer mission (SMEX-11) and is a space-based X-ray telescope that will use a Wolter telescope to focus high energy X-rays from astrophysical sources, especially for nuclear (gamma-ray) spectroscopy. It was built by Orbital Sciences Corporation and launched on 13th June 2012. Photographed at Vandenberg Air Force Base's processing facility, California, USA, on 23rd February 2012.
