Info panel about the Small quadrangular temples Dacian Fortresses of the Orăștie Mountains - Sarmizegetusa Regia

On the northern limit of the sacred area at Sarmizegetusa Regia are remains of two quadrilateral temples. The first one, close to the small circular temple, had the perimeter delimited by pilasters, while massive andesite blocks were placed on the corners. Only 16 andesite columns were preserved inside, from the total of 18 which the temple had in the Dacian period. The second quadrilateral temple also had andesite pilasters marking the sacred space. The Roman destruction was severe so only 5 of its andesite columns belonged to the structure is still visible. The entering in these temples was only possible through the southern side, using some platforms, each of them supported by a wall made of limestone blocks. The divinities to which these temples were dedicated remain unknown, as in the case of other Dacian sacred structures.
