Hobart, Tasmania, Australia - 22 February 2019 Hibiscus are a large family of spectacular flowering plants that are native to warm temperate, subtropical and tropical regions throughout the world. So they are in their element in this part of Australia. This beautiful example seen in a flower bed in a public park is a Hibiscus rosa-sinensis, known colloquially as Chinese hibiscus, China rose or - for some bizarre reason - a Shoeblackplant.
