Before dredging stones from some thousand meter deep submarine slopes of old volcanoes GFZ mapper Matthias Schroeder is analyzing the marine ground mapping by scientific sonar on board of German research vessel RV Sonne. Bevor Wissenschaftler mit einem Dredge genannten Gerät von den Hängen alter Vulkane in einigen tausend Metern Wassertiefe Steine an Bord des deutschen Forschungsschiffs Sonne holenn, analysiert der Kartograph Matthias Schroeder vom Deutschen GeoForschungsZentrum GFZ in Potsdam in den Labors des Schiffes die Topographie, die das Fächerecholot ihm vom Meeresgrund liefert.
