After some days another guide andboat were secured for Comyn who thenhad an opportunity to either fish fromthe boat or wade as might be most con-venient for the pools fished. The three members of this fishingparty occupied each a tent ten by twelvefeet, while the three guides and the cookslept in one of like size. On this occasionhe threatened to decorate his guide withcrape, so doleful did Medric seem. One thirteen pound fish was hookedand landed at the end of a ten ounce rod,which on previous occasions had beenregarded as a sort of mascot and wasnow set up by Samson to change theluck which it apparently did. Another curious incident was thehooking and landing of a slink by Van-derpool in the rapids below slink put up such a vigorous Rghtthat its sort was not ascertained till afterit was gaffed.
