The picture shows a street lamp in the historic harbor of Carolinensiel (Germany). This harbor is a sieve harbor (Sielhafen), typical for the German North Sea coast. The harbor of Carolinensiel was established around 1730 and developed into one of the most important harbors of the German North Sea coast until the middle of the 19th century. From the mid-1950s, the harbor fell into disrepair. It was reconstructed in the 1980s.
