Around the corner from the most well-known Stupa in Kathmandu, sits a factory of the most beautiful carpets you can imagine. The weavers are from Tibet, escapees of the Chinese takeover. Here they can earn money with their craft and contribute to the growth of their industry. The showroom is filled with every spectrum of carpets, from traditional styles to the most minimalist modern designs. I bought two. When you enter and learn about these Tibetan survivors, you cannot help but want to contribute to their cause. And, in doing so, you leave with beautiful and meaningful carpets.
