A reinforced, studded wooden door, with smaller trap-door at "Dickson House", "Kuwait"
Strong studded wooden door with smaller trap door inset. Dickson House - the home of Col. Dickson the first British Commissioner in Kuwait. Originally built in 1870 by a Kuwaiti merchant, in 1929 the house was given to Britain to use as residential headquarters for Diplomatic staff. It is an excellent example of early Kuwaiti architecture. In 1990 the house became the responsibility of the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters. The house is fondly remembered by Kuwaitis. The house has been beautifully restored and is well worth a visit. Some of the old photographs and letters are a fascinating glimpse into the historical links between Britain and Kuwait.
