Thailand: Erawan Shrine (San Phra Phrom), Bangkok. The Erawan Shrine, underneath the Chit Lom Skytrain station in Bangkok, represents the four-headed Hindu god of creation, Brahma (Phra Phrom), and was erected in 1956 after a series of fatal mishaps befell the construction of the original Erawan Hotel. Brahmā is the Hindu god of creation and one of the Trimūrti, the others being Vishnu and Shiva. According to the Brahmā Purāņa, he is the father of Manu, and from Manu all human beings are descended. In the Rāmāyaņa and the Mahābhārata, he is referred to as the progenitor of all human beings.
