Daniel Carbonell, Technical director of HYP-ED, giving a talk entitled "Hyperloop: the future of transportation", on the Engineering Stage, at New Scientist Live 2019

Hyperloop aims to combine air and rail transportation to provide fast, comfortable and efficient transport. By using magnetic levitation and propulsion in a near vacuum hyperloop can reach high speeds with very little loss to friction. Hear about both the technical and commercial aspects of the concept, as well as insight into the SpaceX Hyperloop pod competition, the largest event related to the technology. HYPED is a student team based at the University of Edinburgh dedicated to making the Hyperloop concept a reality. The team is made up of dedicated students from all disciplines, sharing a love for engineering and innovation. The team has been around for four years and has taken part in technical and research competitions and even set up their own competition to engage school pupils in STEM.
