Xavier Sala-i-Martin, is an American economist and Spanish origin, writer, professor of economics at Columbia University and Senior Advisor ("Chief Advisor" [1]) of the World Economic Forum where he also co-authored the Global Competitiveness Report [2] and the intellectual father [3] the Global Competitiveness Index that orders to 142 countries around the world in order of competitiveness.
