A late Medieval Knightly sword probably Italian, late 15th century. In excavated condition, with double-edged hollow-ground blade formed with a medial ridge running over its full length on both sides, tapering from a broad base to a long narrow point, one side with a small series of marks retaining traces of latten, horizontally recurved crosspiece of spatulate form, and bevelled oval pommel with each face flattened centrally and struck with a decorative cruciform arrangement of five squares each filled with a raised pellet.
