May 2lBt,we crossed the Mattapony River, where we bivouacked at dark with ourleft flank at Bowling Green. The Fifth Corps followed us, and the remainderof the Union army immediately began the movement, the rear being assignedto the Sixth Corps, which, however, did not break camp until the night ofMay 21st.
