Loggans view (fig. 2) shews it after it hadbeen unroofed in 1633. Thebuttresses indicate solidityin the walls, which wereno doubt built of brick orclunch. Most of the tennis-courts appear to have beenopen. This was probablythe earlier arrangement,for the two which weknow to have been roofed,namely that at CorpusChristi College, and that atEmmanuel College, werebuilt respectively about1569 and 1584. The roof of the former appears in Loggansview of the college ; and the roof of the latter is mentioned inthe contract for the Brick Building dated 1633.
