Rama Chandra lived with his wife Sita (frequentlyregarded as an incarnation of Lakshmi) and with his half-brother Lakshmana in the wilderness of the south, wherehe had withdrawn in order to obey his father, who hadunjustly banished him and appointed Bharata, anotherson of his, as heir to the throne.
