Whether you approve of zoos as a general principle or not, it can't be denied that there are still many zoos that keep their animals in very poor and inhumane conditions. Traditionally, the zoos of China are infamous for such poor conditions, and although some of the most important Chinese zoos are now improving rapidly, you still see pockets of the old, ghastly conditions. Such is this enclosure for the chimpanzees at Nanjing Zoo, but generally good zoo, but which still houses its chimpanzees and monkeys in very poor conditions.
