Antique beads. 19th-century artwork of ancient beads from a collection owned by Benjamin Nightingale. This artwork illustrated a paper by British antiquarian John Yonge Akerman (1806-1873). The collection includes Roman, Egyptian and Anglo-Saxon beads. Locations range from England to central Asia, northern Africa, and continental Europe. Materials include clay, porcelain and glass.
