The owls resting at their nest COUNTY DURHAM, ENGLAND LOVEABLE images from August 18th 2023 show three barn owl fledglings in their nest sharing a cute images show three 12-week-old barn owls in their nest cuddled up and investigating the world outside as soon as they fledge away from their home. The barn owl is a medium-sized, pale-coloured owl with long wings and a short, squarish tail. There is considerable size variation across the subspecies with a typical specimen measuring about 33 to 39 cm (13 to 15 in) in overall length, with a wingspan of some 80 to 95 cm (31 to 37 in). The male is the main provider of food until all the chicks are at least four weeks old, at which time the female begins to leave the nest and starts to roost elsewhere. By the sixth week the chicks are as big as the adults, but have slimmed down somewhat by the ninth week when they are fully fledged and start leaving the nest briefly themselves. They are still dependent on the parent birds until about thirteen weeks and receive training from the female in finding, and eventually catching, prey. These images were captured by soldier Chris Gee (37) from County Durham, England.   Chris captured the owlets at Esh Winning in County Durham England on his Nikon D500 with sigma lens. Chris knows how lucky he was to get this rare shot of the three owls together just before they leave the nest for good. ?Walking with my camera looking for wildlife I heard screeching, investigated and saw a hole in a tree. I stepped back to a safe distance in order to not disturb the owls,? said Chris. ?It?s a once in a lifetime shot. Especially because it was by chance I heard the screech, also getting three together like that is quite hard. ?As a wildlife photographer you get a sense of satisfaction when you get these shots. ?It?s the type of shots you?d happily wait hours for and sometimes this opportunity will last a few seconds. ?The feedback so far has been excellent. I just think a unique shot
