The flesh is firm, brittle and tender. The shape is the same as that of the Early Scarlet Turnip, and it differs only in the skin being darkerin color, and making smaller tops. Largely used for forcing around New York City. Roots small, round, deep rich scarlet; very crisp, ten- der, white flesh. It matures in 18 to 20 days, and the tops are so small a large number can be grown in a single bed. Packet, 5c.; ounce, 15c.; Vi pound, 35c; pound, $1. EARLY FIRE BALL. Very pretty little fire-red radish, round in shape: small tap root; small top; preferred by many for early forcing.
