Antique Qajar Period Safavid Style Persian Miniature Painting in the Manner of Reza Abbasi

Exceptional 19th century Qajar period miniature painting inspired by the work of 17th century Safavid miniaturists Reza Abbasi and his pupil Mo’en Mosavver. Depicting a youth and a dervish under the blossoming tree enjoying a drink of wine. The subject of a youth paired with an older man, often a dervish or a poet, illustrates the relationship of the spiritual guide and his disciple. Whole scene is framed by a heavily gilded intricate geometric pattern. Fantastic quality painting on par with works of the Safavid masters. In good antique condition with minor browning and loss of pigments consistent with age. Dimensions: painting measures 24×11 cm, frame 46×28 cm Origin: Persia (Iran) Date of production: Qajar dynasty, 19th century Material: ink and opaque watercolours on paper
