But the reports as to the watersupply were favourable, the unusual rainfall of theprevious season having left puddles in severalplaces. The village wells, too, were said not to beempty. These reports proved correct. At Sor, where wepitched our camp the first night, we found large watertroughs with a sufficient supply for our caravan, whichhad been increased by twenty-three oxen and as manyasses.
