. Dwellers of the sea and shore . JAWS OF THE SAND WORM. after sundown. They are a little more than two inches in length, and the posterior part of their body is bright red and peculiarly modified. They appear to be short-lived, for at the close of the swarming period they are found dead in hundreds, and are not seen again for another year.
