NERO CLAUDIUS CAESAR. VI. Neron Cl. Cesar Son of Cn. Domit and Agrippina Daughter of Germanic, and adopted son of Claudius, to whom he succeeded after having had him poisoned, reigned 14 years. He was very cruel and inhuman, having his own mother, his wife, and his tutor Seneque killed, along with most of the Senate. He was the first to spill the blood of Christians, especially of St. Peter and St. Paul. He had part of Rome burned down, to get away from the sight of such a feud, which Troy had embraced. The first years of his empire he showed himself to be virtuous
