A general description of these engines was included in the annual report ofthe Motive Power and Car Department for 1916. During the year tliat these locomotives have been in service they have provenvery satisfactory. Alterations and Repairs to Locomotives: With the view of effecting all possible economy in tlie matter of fuel consump-tion, it has been the intention for some time to proceed with the installation ofsuperheaters, brick arches, etc., on the older types of locomotives.
