This scene complements William Shakespeare's tragedy titled Twelfth Night. It illustrates lines in Act II Scene V. Malvolio is a fictional character in William Shakespeare's comedy Twelfth Night, or What You Will. He is the vain, pompous steward of Olivia's household. He is portrayed as the main antagonist. The illustration is by Sir John Gilbert (1817-1897), renowned for his prolific illustration of Shakespeare's works. Shakespeare was born in 1564 and died in1616. The book dates to 1887.
