Taking the eleven months of the last years operation,the last months accounts being notyet completed, for the year endingJune 30, 1899, the total number ofcar miles was 914,926, and cost ofmaintenance $87, 008, or .095 per carmile. Of this amount .016 per carmile was chargeable to snow re-moval. This amount may be betterappreciated when one understandsthat this sum means that every carmust eain $ a day to pay the ex-penses of the snow removal
