A raccoon, Procyon lotor, fishing for acquatic creatures in the coastal Texas wetlands, discovers the approaching photographer.

Raccoons inhabit most of the United States and their hbitat is traditionally close to water. Procyon means "before dog" and lotor mens "Washer." They're well adapted to climates that range from the cooler regions of North America to the warmer tropics.
