Rear view of the Fisherwoman, a sculpture in honor of lost fishermen at sea, Scheveningen, South Holland, The Netherlands.

Rear view of a statue for lost fishermen at sea, Scheveningen, South Holland, The Netherlands. The sculpture depicts a fisherwoman, dressed in the traditional costume of Scheveningen. It is located at the so-called head of Kalhuisplaats. The look of the woman is symbolic because it is inevitably facing the sea where she once expected one or more of her beloved ones ( her lover, her husband, her son or her father ) to return from sea. The inscription on the pedestral reads: For all those people who set sail and didn't return.
