Armadillo. Preserved specimen of the armour of a three-banded armadillo (Tolypeutes sp.) rolled up into a defensive ball. The armour is formed from plates of dermal bone. Armadillos are mammals native to the Americas. Three-banded armadillos roll into a ball when threatened by a predator.
