The drag scraper der-rick is especially adapted for the con-ditions under which it is designed towork, but the convertible fittingsmakes it useful for grab bucket Neco excavator derrick is de-signed to do steam shovel work liketrench excavating or road work at afirst cost less than that of a steamshovel and a wider range. The dipperis arranged to dump by hand line orautomatically and only one man is re-quired to operate the excavator der-rick with a double drum hoisting en-gine and derrick swinger. This der-rick may be used for any other derrickpurpose by disconnecting the nEl;l:lcK.^ pipe AXD E.\i that the top of the plate is exactlyat the level of the finished concrete—•a duplicate of the template to be usedin crowning being used. The jointwork can thus be kept as far ahead ofthe concrete gang as the sub-base. Ifthe concrete is laid over an old maca-dam road the Moyer joint may be used The capacities of this dipper are %,Vi, ^, % and 1 cubic yard. As examples of the improvementsmay be mentioned that in these der-ricks the mast bottom (which is pat-ented) runs in oil in a covered cavity, thus reducing frictional wear.
