B isthe frame of the machine, D is a driving shaft, and E E bevel-gear for communicating motion tothe operating shaft. The novelty of Merritts boring machine consists in attaching around theoperating shaft of an ordinary boring machine a cam H, on the under-side of which is a path ofthe form of the hole to be bored.
