To become a rapid and an accurate sketcher one must be able to estimatedistances with less than ten per cent error up to 600 yards and within fifteen per centup to a mile. Estimates of distances should be made in yards and the ground distanceand map distance for 100 yards should be distinctly fixed in the mind as referenceunits.
