Marines with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit’s Amphibious Reconnaissance Platoon (ARP), riding a Combat Rubber Raiding Craft (CRRC), approach the well deck of the USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) during helocast training, June 15, 2017. Navy boatswain’s mates work together with ARP to ensure safe recovery of Marines conducting amphibious training and operations. Helocast is a specialty of the 31st MEU’s ARP. During helocast, a CRRC is launched from the rear of a rotary-wing aircraft, followed by Marines who jump from the aircraft and board the CRRC to perform amphibious reconnaissance missions.
