Vegetable sellers in Muranga. Climate extremes cause erratic fluctuations in prices for staples. Droughts limit food supply. But even times when rains are plentiful can cause problems. After good harvests, farmers are forced to sell their crops at low prices because they don’t have the capacity to store food and control supply. Months later, these same families have to buy their food in markets, often at many times higher a price than they sold for.
