Kingston Plains in the Lake Superior State Forest in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, is an area of cutover forest in the mid late 1800's. Ahster burning the slash was burned rendering the soil infertile. Only now, a hundred and fifty years or so later are small trees and brush retiurning around this low depressio area. Alger County, Michigan
