Blue mound or woodland sage, Salvia sylvestris. Handcoloured botanical drawn and engraved by Pierre Bulliard from his own "Flora Parisiensis," 1776, Paris, Didot. Pierre Bulliard (1752-1793 was a famous French botanist who pioneered the three-colour-plate printing technique. His introduction to the flowers of Paris included 640 plants.
