This photograph, numbered 23027, was taken in 1918 by the Signal Corps of the It captures an eighteen-year-old German soldier who was captured during the St. Mihiel drive by the Americans. He had been rejected three times for army service but was finally allowed due to a shortage of manpower. Shortly after being taken, he was captured again, this time by the Americans.
