Swayne hartebeest (Alcelaphus buselaphus swayeni). Hartebeest are found throughout sub-Saharan Africa. Both males and females have the distinctive curving horns. Hartebeest live in herds and feed on grass and other vegetation. They can reach a height of metres and weigh up to 200 kg. The swayne hartebeest is in danger of extinction and is a protected species.
